5 most expensive houses that just sold in Whitby, Pickering and Ajax

While Durham’s average house price is below the GTA average, the area offers buyers a mix of homes at various price points, including more luxurious listings sought by people with broader budgets.

Recently, real estate website and brokerage Zoocasa highlighted the five most expensive homes that sold in Pickering, Whitby and Ajax last month. The homes are sold well above the regional average of $956,428 and tend to offer upgrades and a little more space.

Here’s a look at the five most expensive homes that just changed hands in Durham.


1610 Sandhurst Cres. – Pickering

This Rouge Park house in Pickering sold for $1,870,000 after being listed for $1,700,000. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom, custom-built house offers over 3,000 square feet of space and sits on a 50 by 200-foot lot with no neighbours behind the property. The house offers an open-concept layout, a gourmet kitchen with built-in stainless steel appliances, a great room with cathedral ceilings and hardwood floors. 


722 Front Rd. – Pickering

This waterfront-area home in Pickering’s Bay Ridges community sold for $1,800,000 after being listed for $1,799,000. The house offers four bedrooms, five bathrooms and over 4,800 square feet of living space. Close to Frenchman’s Bay, the house also boasts wide plank hardwood and porcelain flooring, a chef’s kitchen with a wine fridge and two ovens, a master bedroom with a five-piece ensuite bathroom and balcony, a hot tub and more.

This four-bedroom, five-bathroom house in Whitby’s Williamsburg community sold for $1,580,000 after hitting the market at $1,649,990. This 4,500 square foot Whitby house in Taunton North recently sold for $1,500,000 after being listed for $1,599,999.
