Fall might be around the corner, but the City of Oshawa is keeping select splash pads open due to the warm temperatures that are set to persist through the weekend.

On Sept. 13, the city announced that seven splash pads will be open today, Saturday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 15.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 26 C today and tomorrow and 28 C on Sunday, with sunny skies anticipated on all three days.

The splash pads open today and throughout the weekend include Lakeview Park, SandyHawley Park, Pinecrest Park, Glen Stewart Park, Cordova Valley Park, and Delpark Homes Centre.

The splash pads will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

On its website, the city says that parents and guardians must be on hand to supervise young children at splash pads. Infants and toddlers not yet potty trained are expected to wear appropriate swim attire to prevent accidents, and food and drink are not permitted in the play areas.

People and children with open sores are advised to avoid playing in splash pads and appropriate footwear is recommended.

Splash pads will close for the season on Sept. 16.
