Stolen credit, debit cards from Oshawa man used to buy gift cards in Toronto

Two men are wanted in connection with a banking scam where debit and credit cards were fraudulently obtained from a victim’s home in Oshawa.

The culprits are believed to have impersonated representatives of the victim’s bank and on April 27 contacted him to notify him that his debit and credit cards had been compromised and needed to be replaced via a secure courier.

“The suspects attended the victim’s residence in Oshawa, and took the victim’s credit and debit cards,” said Durham Regional Police.

The two suspects would then use the stolen debit and credit cards to purchase gift cards at a retail location in Toronto.

The first suspect is described as a Brown male with black hair. He was wearing a black vest with a red collar and white emblem on the upper left chest, black pants, and white running shoes.

The second suspect is described as a Black male and was wearing a black hooded sweater, green pants, and white running shoes.
