Three men are on the lam after an attempt at stealing a car from a home’s garage in Whitby.

Shortly before 4 a.m. on Sept. 17, the trio allegedly opened the garage of a home near Closson Drive and Des Newman Boulevard. The area is a new subdivision just off Rossland Road and Highway 412.

The trio allegedly used a remote garage door opener they found in a Lexus they had previously stolen from the home, according to Durham Police. The three tried to get into a Range Rover parked in the garage but could not get into the car.

Likewise, the trio failed to break into the home from the garage and fled in the white Lexus. The police were called a couple of hours later.

Investigators describe all three suspects as white men standing about five-foot-ten. The first was slim with a black face mask, dark sweater, blue pyjama pants, and black shoes.

The second was also slim and wore a dark green hoodie, dark green track pants, and black shoes. The third had more of a medium build and wore a blue mask, white hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes.
