Courtice lotto winner
Ernie Neufeld of Courtice won $1 million in 6/49 draw from last May

A self-employed Courtice man cut it close to the one-year deadline but is now $1 million richer after winning the big prize in the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball Draw from May 27, 2023.

Ernie Neufeld, who has been playing LOTTO 6/49 and Encore for 15 years, can certainly now ‘find his possible’ after collecting his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“I was calm and happy. I just kept looking at the scanner and checking out all the zeros!” he said, recalling the moment he realized he won.

The married father of three said he “feels very lucky” about his new fortune. “It’s like going to the casino and hitting the jackpot!”

Neufeld plans to share his winnings with his kids.

The winning ticket was purchased at The Pantry on Park Road in Oshawa.

LOTTO 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday, for the same $3 per play. The Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the Gold Ball Draw guarantees a $1 million prize, or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can exceed $60 million.
