A 112-unit townhome complex in Courtice has been given the green light by Clarington Council.

The development for the northeast corner of Prestonvale Road and Bloor Street – which will include linked and stacked townhouses – will be moving forward after council approved a staff report requesting the ‘H’ holding symbol be removed from the project.

Under the Municipal Planning Act, municipalities can add an ‘H’ symbol to development until certain conditions are met. These conditions include infrastructure and servicing support, access, protection of natural areas, measures to mitigate the impact of development, submission of required studies, execution of agreements and financial obligations.

The re-zoning for the land was approved nearly two years ago but the developer – National Homes (Prestonvale) – has taken until recently to meet all the required conditions.

The developer has started to install underground services and private lanes and will be applying for building permits in the coming months.
