16-year-old cyclist killed by tractor trailer in south Oshawa

Durham Police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was struck and killed by a tractor trailer in Oshawa Thursday evening.

Central East Division officers responded to a report of a cyclist being struck by a tractor trailer at the intersection of Simcoe Street South and Wentworth Street West, Oshawa at approximately 7:20 p.m.

The 16-year-old cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected and the scene was reconstructed.  The investigation is ongoing.
