Double homicide confirmed near Oshawa, child spared

Police say two women were the victims of a double homicide in Courtice, Ontario near Oshawa this afternoon (Oct. 1).

A child found inside the residence was not harmed.

A man has been taken into custody.

The names of the women have not been released.

According to information released late in the day, officers were called to a home on Moulton Court around 1:10 p.m. The neighbourhood is just north of Highway 401 off of Nash Road just east of Oshawa.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the two women who displayed obvious signs of trauma. Police have not indicated how they died.

A 33-year-old male was arrested on the scene without incident.

Members of the Forensic Investigative Services and Homicide Unit remain on the scene and are expected to be there for some time.

“Our thoughts are with the families who have been impacted by this tragedy and we will provide further information as it becomes available,” said Durham police.
