2 men from Oshawa charged after loaded gun found in car in Pickering

Two men face multiple firearm-related charges after police found a gun during a traffic stop in Pickering over the weekend.
On Saturday (August 3), around 8:30 p.m., members of the Quick Response Team stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bayly Street and Brock Road.
Police didn’t specify why the vehicle appeared “suspicious-looking.”
Further investigations revealed that the car driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle and he was apprehended.
Subsequently, a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a gun in a bag near the driver’s seat. The passenger was also arrested.
Kendall Mandley-Byer, 27, of Oshawa, faces multiple charges, including possession of a loaded restricted and prohibited firearm, possession contrary to an order and failing to comply with a release order.
Andrew Thorne, 25, also of Oshawa, is charged with similar offences, including possessing a loaded restricted and prohibited firearm and failing to comply with a release order twice.
Both were held for a bail hearing.
