A pure vegetarian restaurant offering authentic Indian cuisine, from curries to sweet desserts and popular street food snacks is officially open in Oshawa.

Rajdhani Sweets is now open in the bustling plaza at 1295 Ritson Rd. N., adjacent to the Metro grocery store.

Among the tempting snack options are samosa chana (crispy pastry filled with spiced chickpeas), chat papri (crisp flour wafers topped with yogurt, chutney, and spices), and pani puri (crisp hollow shells filled with tangy tamarind water).

For bread lovers, the restaurant serves a variety of options including plain naan, garlic naan, onion naan, and aloo naan. Paratha, a flaky and buttery flatbread is also available.

South Indian offerings include idli sambar (steamed rice cakes served with lentil soup) and masala dosa (a crispy crepe filled with spiced potatoes).

For the main course, some options diners can enjoy are biryani (fragrant rice cooked with mixed vegetables), chana bhatura (fluffy fried bread served with spicy chickpeas), and makki roti saag (cornmeal bread served with mustard greens).

If you have room to try dessert, some items to choose from are the gulab jamun (deep-fried milk dumplings soaked in sugar syrup), ras malai (soft cheese patties soaked in sweetened milk), and kulfi faluda (creamy frozen dessert served with vermicelli and rose syrup).

Traditional sweets are also showcased near the restaurant’s entrance and can be purchased. Prices fluctuate for each sweet, which is sold by the pound and packaged in the restaurant’s signature boxes.

The restaurant had its grand opening on Friday (July 26).

Rajdhani Sweets has several other locations across the GTHA. There are eight in Mississauga, six in Brampton, and one each in Etobicoke, Hamilton, Burlington, and Niagara Falls.
