A pedestrian struck by a train east of Oshawa

A pedestrian has been struck by a train near the town of Bowmanville east of Oshawa.

In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Durham Regional Police representatives indicated an ongoing road closure at Mearns Ave between Longworth Ave and Sprucewood Crescent.

INdurham reached out to Durham Region authorities to inquire about the nature of the closure.

Representatives with Durham Regional Police told INdurham via email that, “At approximately 9:15 a.m., members of East Division responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a train.  Emergency services along with CP police are on scene at this time.”

At the time of publication, no updates have been provided on the status of the pedestrian who was struck.
