The Town of Ajax has received their first casino payout of the year, a nearly $1.5 million pot.

The OLG paid Ajax out on July 19 for the casino’s earnings from April to June. They have a formula, which applies to all gambling sites in Ontario. This dictates what percentage of the earnings go to the host communities.

The communities “support important community programs and services and strengthen their local infrastructure with these gaming revenues,” said Minister of Finance and Pickering-Uxbridge MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy, “These financial supports help fund the vital programs and services that residents can depend on for their future.”

“OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation,” the corporation said, noting they reinvest 100 per cent of their profits back into the community.

Since Ajax casino opened in 2006, the town has made nearly $104,000,000. Since 1994, Ontario’s casino hosts have raked in more than $2 billion in OLG payouts.
