Ajax driving new Covid-19 cases with 11 of yesterdays total of 27 in Durham Region

Durham Region reported 27 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday, bringing the active case total to 125.

Eleven of the new cases – more than 40 per cent – came from Ajax.

Five people are currently in local hospitals, with one Oshawa patient still in ICU.

Delta variant cases have now reached 221, with ten active.

Slightly over 73 per cent of all Durham residents over the age of 12 are now fully vaccinated, just shy of the provincial figure of 74 per cent.

Ontario-wide, more than three-quarters of all new Covid cases are from unvaccinated people and 52 of 64 patients currently in ICU in Ontario hospitals are unvaccinated, with another six having received a single dose.
