Jeevakumar Sivapatham of Ajax knew it wasn’t an April Fools joke when he learned he won a $500,000 Maxmillions prize in the April 1 draw.

The 54-year-old father of three said this is his first big win. “I checked my ticket on the OLG App and I was pretty calm – that’s just my nature,” he said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I told my wife, and she was happy!”

Sivapatham plans to pay some bills and buy a car.

OLG is booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. We strongly encourage those with claims between $1,000 and $49,999.90 to submit them online or mail them in. Submitting claims online is fast and secure. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options.

Lotto Max players in Ontario have won more than $7 billion since 2009, including 92 jackpot wins and 776 Maxmillions prizes, right across the province. Lotto Max is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on Salem Road in Ajax.
