Ajax gunpoint carjacking suspect remains at large

A man who stole a car at gunpoint in Ajax remains at large days later.

The unidentified suspect approached a white Land Rover parked on the side of the road near the Bazin Rd. and Turnerbury Ave. intersection. The residential area sits in the town’s north end, just off Audley Rd. and Rossland Rd.

When the suspect reached the car, he pointed a pistol through the open window and demanded the keys. The victim complied and handed over the keys. The carjacker then climbed in the car and took off down Bazin Rd. The victim was unharmed.

Durham Regional Police describe the suspect as a Black man standing 5-foot-8. He was wearing a black face mask and a black hoodie.
