Ajax man arrested, another wanted in connection with attempted stabbing in Toronto

Toronto police, mississauga man arrested carjacking

An Ajax man has been arrested in a Toronto Police assault with a weapon investigation and the public assistance is required in identifying a second wanted man.

Toronto Police received calls of a person with a knife in the Danforth Road and Kennedy Road area in Toronto on Sunday (June 16) around 10:35 a.m.

Police say that two men were seen driving a car dangerously in the area when another man exited his vehicle and confronted the two men.

One of the two men, the driver, would allegedly get out of the vehicle and attempt to stab the victim with a knife. The other man also got out and threatened the victim, before both returned to their vehicle and drove away.

Police would arrest Rishabh Barua, 21, of Ajax a short time later. He is charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Two counts of breach of recognizance

Barua scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Monday, June 17.

Help is needed in identifying the other male (pictured below).

He is described as being between 20 to 30 years old with a black beard and short black dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, red shorts, a black baseball hat, and black running shoes.
