Graydon Maloney of Ajax won ‘Ontario’s jackpot’ of $710,202.80 in the November 20 LOTTARIO draw. Graydon also won $2 on his ENCORE selection bringing his total winnings to $710,204.80.
Maloney, a father and grandfather, said it was a Sunday morning when his wife brought up the winning numbers for him to compare his ticket. “When I saw the numbers matched, I asked my wife how many winnings tickets there were. She said there was three and I responded that I was one of them!” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “She thought I was joking until she looked at the ticket herself and started jumping up and down in excitement,” he laughed. “It was a fun moment to share.”
The retiree said he is excited for the future. “I plan to invest the majority of this win for a more comfortable retirement and now my wife will be able to retire much sooner,” he said.
He also plans to complete some work around the house, purchase some exercise equipment and travel somewhere warm when it’s safe to travel again.
LOTTARIO launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 10:30 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the Early Bird draw. Visit the LOTTARIO page on OLG.ca for more information.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Westney Road in Ajax.
