A Courtice retiree anted up and went ‘All In’ to win the October 30 POKER LOTTO ALL IN jackpot worth nearly $250,000.

Steven Lapp, who is retired from public service, won $244,472.30 on the free play jackpot and added another $5,000 on the instant portion of his POKER LOTTO play, bringing his total winnings to $249,472.30.

Lapp has been playing the lottery with OLG for more than 20 years and enjoys playing both as part of a lottery group with colleagues and on his own. His favourite game is POKER LOTTO.

“I was playing POKER LOTTO at the store when I hit a pair of jacks and won a Free Play. I decided to add ALL IN to my free ticket, and then I saw the Royal Flush come up on the screen. I knew right away that I had won,” he said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings. “I started fist pumping and cheering. I celebrated with the store clerk and gave him a big tip in celebration of my win. We were both so happy, and he was moved to tears. What a feeling!”

Lapp was more than a little happy to earn the big windfall. “I feel proud, like I’m on top of the world. I’d like to do this again now that I have a personal best to beat.”

“I plan to share this win with my children, and I’m excited to celebrate with a trip.”

POKER LOTTO players can opt for ALL IN for an additional $1 to take a chance on instantly winning a jackpot that starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. Visit the POKER LOTTO page on OLG.ca for more information about ALL IN.

The winning ticket was purchased at JRS Convenience Store on Highway 2 in Courtice.
