Alleged sword attack on Toronto bus leads to charges for Ajax man

An Ajax man faces charges after police claim he attacked strangers with a sword on a Toronto bus.
According to Toronto Police, the incident broke out near Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue West around 11 p.m. on June 24. The area sits in the far western side of Old Toronto near the border with Etobicoke.
Investigators allege Joseph Brian Size, 46 of Ajax, hopped on TTC buses and attacked other riders. He first hopped on one and punched another rider unprovoked, according to police.
Then, investigators continued, he got off the bus walked a bit north and got on a second bus. On board, they claim Size, punched a second victim, again unprovoked. This time the bus shut down and all passengers fled. Neither victim knew Size.
Size then pulled the sword from his backpack, police say, and began to “violently” swing it around attacking the seats. Police arrived and arrested him on the bus.
Size is charged with;
- two counts of assault
- carrying a concealed weapon
- possession of a weapon
- mischief and property damage, and
- failure to comply with a release order
He was held until a bail hearing on June 25.
