Big weekend for the Oshawa Generals with Peterborough and Saginaw in town

The Oshawa Generals are hoping a little home cooking can be the recipe for success this weekend with a pair of important homes games on their plate that could boost the club into the thick of the Eastern Conference.

A couple of wins and Oshawa (5-5-2) could vault into the top five in the East. But a couple of losses would see the team stuck near the bottom of the pack. Early days or not, that’s not where they want to be.

It’s not like the weekend is without motivation; not with the arch-rival Peterborough Petes (8-3-1) here on Friday, followed by a re-match against underage phenom Michael Misa and his Saginaw Sprit (7-5-1), who beat the Generals 3-2 last weekend in Michigan.

This will be the first visit to Oshawa and the Tribute Communities Centre by Saginaw – celebrity Stephen Colbert’s adopted team back when they enjoyed a brief made-for-TV rivalry with the Generals (remember Stephen Colbert Day in 2007?)  – in three years.

Puck drop Friday is 7:35 and 6:05 on Sunday.
