One of Canada’s biggest retro gaming stores has launched its second expansion pack with the addition of another location in Whitby.

We Got Gamez opened its first location in Ajax over 12 years ago and quickly became a local gaming Mecca. Back then, founder Kamal Lalli was frustrated with his corporate job and started a small stand at the Pickering Flea Market.

After falling in love with the gaming market, Lalli opened his first location before moving to a permanent home in Ajax shortly after. Since then, he’s built a loyal following of Durham Region gamers and one of the largest collections of retro games in Canada. This collection includes some exceptionally rare pieces of gaming history from the birth of modern consoles to the latest AAA blockbusters.

“My inventory will destroy everyone out there,” he told Insauga while celebrating the store’s tenth anniversary, “But it’s because of the community. If I don’t have the support from the community, we wouldn’t be able to do this.”

That support keeps Lalli’s business growing. He expanded into his second location in Mississauga in 2017. Now he’s opened his third expansion into Whitby at the beginning of August. The new store sits at 1910 Dundas St. near the Oshawa-Whitby border.

“As a small business owner, I wanted to thank everyone for your love and support. This has been a journey and wait till you see what we have in store for you Without you we wouldn’t be “not-your-average-video-game-store,” Lalli wrote on social media announcing the new location.

Like the Ajax store, the Whitby location is open 11 to 7, Monday to Friday, 10 to 6 on Saturday and 11 to 5 on Friday.
