Blackstock Arena – shuttered since the pandemic was declared in March 2020 – will remain closed this season due to a lack of demand for ice.
Scugog made the “difficult” decision to keep the rink closed at a Planning and Community Affairs Committee meeting last month, following a recommendation from staff.
The Township is hoping to build a new rink at the site – plans are for an arena three times the size of the current 80 year-old barn (which is famous for its ridiculously low ceilings) with seating for 300 – provided enough grant funding can be secured.
For ice availability at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre call (905) 985-8698 or email [email protected].
