Bowmanville man charged with uttering death threats and assault with a dangerous weapon

A Bowmanville man is facing assault and weapons charges after the Durham Police Tactical Support Unit responded to a death threat call Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the man “harassed and made death threats” towards a woman, prompting the tactical team and East Division officers to visit a home near Bowmanville Avenue and Hartwell Avenue just before 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Miguel Palacios-Ferman, 69, is in custody and has been charged with two counts of uttering death threats, two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and criminal harassment.
The man also brandished a knife and made threats towards the officers when the tactical team arrived, police added. The officers were able to de-escalate the situation and take the man into custody without further incident.
He was held for a bail hearing.
