Downtown Bowmanville will transform into four blocks of all things apple this Saturday as the annual Applefest street festival takes over the city streets.

The official kick-off to autumn showcases Bowmanville and Clarington’s numerous apple producers, cider makers and more and visitors and locals alike will revel in the tastes of the season.

Fresh-picked apples, fresh-pressed cider, homemade apple pies and crisps, candy and caramel apples, cider donuts and the town’s famous fresh hot apple fritters are just a few of the reasons why Applefest is on everyone’s to-go list this weekend.

Applefest & Craft Sale also features an artisan and craft market where local vendors show off their handmade creations in tents lining the streets. You can also discover the businesses of downtown Bowmanville with specials all day long.

The event also includes live entertainment, a mini carnival and other attractions. Admission is free and if you can find a nearby spot, so is parking.

Applefest is put on by the business owners of downtown Bowmanville.

Several roads in the downtown will close from Friday at 6 p.m. to Saturday at 7 p.m. for the festival. Closures include:

  • King Street between Scugog Street and George Street
  • Division Street between Church Street and King Street
  • Temperance Street between Church Street and King Street
  • Silver Street between Church Street and King Street
