A Bowmanville woman had to bring her daughter along to claim her $100,000 in scratch ticket winnings because “I needed her to come with me in case I fell over.”

Kelly Patton, 62, bought a $5 INSTANT CROSSWORD TRIPLER from Waverley Variety on Waverly Road. When she started scratching the ticket she was surprised to see so much red on it.

“I’ve never seen that before, so I pulled out my phone and scanned it,” she said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

Patton, 62, a regular lottery player with Instant Crossword games being her favourite, said  she hasn’t had a straight thought since she won. “I don’t think I’ve been able to comprehend it yet. It’s overwhelming.” The mother of three and grandmother of five is going to save her winnings and might take a trip in the future.

OLG, which is booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “strongly encourage” those with claims between $1,000 and $49,999.90 to submit them online or mail them in.
