Brass knuckles, butterfly knives seized in police raid of Oshawa convenience store

Police have arrested a man they accused of selling prohibited weapons, including brass knuckles and butterfly knives, out of an Oshawa convenience store.

Durham Regional Police raided the Taunton Convenience Store at 250 Taunton Rd. on June 21. They had been investigating a man who worked there for some time and also raided his home and car on the same day. During the raids, police seized 160 brass knuckles, six butterfly knives and illegal vape products.

The Durham Region Health Department assisted with the raid on the suspect’s car and found 687 vape products. The materials were improperly sealed, illegally flavoured and had a higher nicotine content than is legal.

Zaifu Lin, 33 of Oshawa, is charged with numerous offences including two counts of weapons trafficking, four counts of weapon possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of weapons dangerous, and four counts of possession of prohibited weapons.
