The 17 Hundred student housing building near Durham College and Ontario Tech University suffered a break-in last month that has led police to ask for help identifying a suspect over the holidays.

On the evening of November 2, two men broke into the residential building at 1700 Simcoe Street North through a side door.

The pair trespassed through the building, according to police, before breaking into a storage locker and making off with several items from within.

On December 28, nearly two months after the break-in, Durham Police put out a call for help to identify one of the suspects.

Police have already identified one of the men, but need the public’s help to identify the other. The unknown suspect is described as a 5’8″ tall man in his early 20s, sporting  long shoulder length dark hair and a dark mustache.

He was wearing a black baseball hat, a blue winter coat with a fur hood, a black t-shirt, black jogging pants and white sneakers as caught on security footage during the break-in.

Anyone with information regarding this man’s identity or the crime itself can call PC Kettle at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1836 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
