A man from Brock Township is facing multiple harassment charges after children in Orillia were followed around.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on October 15, a child called their parent to report that a man was following them down a trail. The parents came out to the trail and in turn, put in a call to the OPP. The dispatched officers searched for the man when they arrived, but couldn’t find him.

However, shortly thereafter police got another call to report a car that had rolled up on a group of young people. A dark sedan approached the group who ran away from the car. The kids made it home and called the OPP.

Police brought in the Orillia Crime Uni and the OPP Aviation Services to search for the car. They tracked down a man in a car and arrested him.

Matthew Rooney-Forgues, 29 of Brock Township, stands charged with four counts of harassment. He appeared in a Barrie courtroom for a bail hearing on October 17.
