Bus cancellations due to driver shortage extends to Pickering; 26 routes cancelled

More school bus routes are being cancelled Thursday morning, with the cancellations extending to Pickering from route eliminations in Uxbridge, Scugog and Brooklin on Tuesday and Wednesday.

All cancelled routes are served by First Student, a school bus company experiencing a severe bus driver shortage.

A total of 26 routes have been axed today; 13 morning routes and a corresponding 13 in the afternoon.

Schools affected include Uxbridge Secondary, Goodwood Public, Scott Central Public, Quaker Village Public and St. Joseph Catholic in Uxbridge; Good Shepherd Catholic, RH Cornish Public and Prince Albert Public in Scugog; and Pine Ridge and Dunbarton high schools, William Dunbar Public and St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic in Pickering.

Buses to Brooklin are on time Thursday morning.
