Camp Molly is coming to Oshawa this September, giving young women a taste of a career in fire and emergency services.

The free four-day camp provides participants with an inside look at firefighting and a chance to meet strong female role models in their community. The young woman (15-18) will be challenged, empowered and perhaps change the way they see themselves as they rotate through a series of activities based on Firefighter Level 1 training, including Fire Investigation and Fire Dynamics, Medical Scenarios, Auto Extracation, Firefighter Survival and Forcible Entry, Fire Prevention, Communications and more.

Registration for Camp Molly Durham, which will run September 14-17, is now open. Registrants can submit their application online until Monday, August 14. Applicants will receive an email indicating if they’ve been selected as one of the 35 participants by August 18.

Camp Molly has been running since 2019 with the goal of showing young women and gender diverse people aged 15 to 18 that a career in fire and emergency services is a viable and rewarding option. Camp Molly Durham is a joint initiative between Oshawa Fire Services and Fire Services in Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog, Uxbridge and Whitby.

Additional information about Camp Molly is available on their website or on the organization’s socials.
