An Oshawa man linked to a previous break-in at the same business is facing more charges after he was caught following a robbery attempt at the north Oshawa Canadian Tire store in the early hours of Christmas Eve morning.

Durham Police Central responded to a break-and-enter in progress at the Canadian Tire location on Wilson Road North just after 5 a.m. on December 24.

Police said the suspect broke into the business and attempted to steal merchandise.  When officers arrived the man fled on foot, resulting in a short foot pursuit before he was taken into custody.

Tyler Leo Lazure, 40, from Oshawa is charged with two counts of break-and-enter and two probation violations. Police said Lazure was linked to a previous break-and-enter at the same location.

He was held for a bail hearing.
