The Candlelight Concert series returns to Oshawa next month with a four-pack of Christmas-themed classics jammed into two days, with all shows set to the background of thousands of candles.
The unique concerts, scheduled for December 19 and 21 at the downtown Biltmore Theatre, are original music events created by Fever, a global live-entertainment company that hopes to “democratize” access to classical music with an innovative format to meet all tastes, played by local musicians, in emblematic venues, with the space and performers illuminated by candles.
Candlelight invites a broader audience that might have never considered a classical music concert before to connect with the most iconic pieces of the greatest composers and listen to the top hits of well-known artists in a different way.
The December events kick off on December 19 with two shows (6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.) featuring Christmas classics and ‘The Nutcracker’ and more, with the second date two days later with two more shows of Christmas classics and new favourites.

The Candlelight Concert Series was in Oshawa and the Biltmore Theatre last month for a special Halloween-themed show on October 11, featuring favorite movie soundtracks from The Addams Family, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, The Exorcist, Thriller and more.
Oshawa also hosted three of the candlelight concerts this past summer – including a Taylor Swift-themed event – and the Biltmore hosted two events last fall, featuring an adapted program with tributes to Hans Zimmer and Taylor Swift and the Holiday Special featuring ‘The Nutcracker,’ all performed by the Listeso String Quartet.
The series has been successful in more than 100 cities around the globe, from Madrid, Lisbon and London to Sydney, as well as the shows in Oshawa and other Canadian cities.
Initially conceived as a classical music series with concerts featuring works from the greatest composers, such as Vivaldi, Mozart, and Chopin, the concert series now includes a wide variety of themes and genres, including tributes to contemporary artists like Queen, ABBA, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran, as well as shows dedicated to K-Pop, movie soundtracks and others.
