Updated: Car crash leaves woman with life-threatening injuries in Pickering

A woman was severely injured in a car crash in Pickering this morning.
Durham Regional Police announced the crash shortly before 10 a.m. on Sept. 21. The collision occurred near Taunton Rd. and Whites Rd. which investigators closed down. Minutes later they shared that a woman sustained life-threatening injuries. An Ornge air ambulance helicopter was en route to the scene as of 10:02 a.m.
Police have not confirmed the circumstances of the crash or if anyone else was involved. They expect the Taunton and White Rds. area to remain shuttered for an “extended period.”
Update 11 a.m.: Police have provided a map of what streets will remain closed for their investigation. Whites Rd. is closed from Third Concession Rd. to its terminus at Taunton Rd. The closure on Taunton begins at Sideline 26 and extends past Whites Rd. to Rosebank Rd.
