After eight years, a celebrated restaurant in Port Perry is closing its doors.
In a post to their Instagram account, the Foundry Kitchen and Bar notified the dining public that, after much deliberation on behalf of ownership, the decision had been made to shut down the location.
Additional information from owners Steve Lovisa and Meaghan O’Hara relayed that community reactions and the restaurant’s corresponding longevity surpassed all expectations.
“This restaurant was a 5-year plan for us. We’re fortunate to have enjoyed success for 8 years, which, if you aren’t familiar, is quite the feat for a little independent restaurant,” detailed Lovisa and O’Hara in their Instagram post.

As a byproduct of a veritable hot streak during their years in operation, Lovia and O’Hara are opting to go out on a high note and will close down the Foundry Kitchen and Bar by December of this year.
“This was a difficult decision to make but we feel that it is time for another adventure. Meaghan and I can’t begin to describe how fortunate we have been over these years to have had the pleasure of serving and getting to know you,” read the Instagram post.
In light of continued community engagement, both Lovisa and O’Hara are giving the Foundry a proper send-off, as they will remain in operation for a few months.
“This might be upsetting to some, and we get it. Sorry. There will be lots of time to get your Foundry Fix before we close our doors. This was a tough message to write and it’s a scary thing to do,” read the Instagram post.
The Foundry Kitchen and Bar is well known for its savory brunches, locally sourced ingredients and dynamic lunch and dinner menus that put a unique twist on culinary favorites.
Lovisa and O’Hara closed their farewell statement by indicating “We’re working on something new and will be sure to keep you posted as the plans take shape.”
