Chalk Lake Springs in Scugog down for maintenance

Durham’s most popular source of free spring water is down for maintenance this week as workers test the pipes at Chalk Lake Springs to ensure clean spring water will be flowing for many years to come.
The spring, located on Lakeridge Road in Scugog – across the road from Dagmar and Lakeridge ski resorts – is a popular stop for residents and visitors who often fill up on the way to cottage country.
The spring shut down for the fall clean-up Monday and will re-open to the public Saturday.
Durham Region will conduct additional maintenance activities – this time over an 18-day span – between October 26 and November 12. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Some of the work requires a full site closure to the public for safety reasons.
