A man from Clarington faces three charges after allegedly communicating with someone they believed was underage in an attempt to meet up.
Earlier in December 2022, a man started talking to a person they thought was a 14-year-old boy on Snapchat. Police say the man, under the username belden_conrad19, allegedly made numerous requests for pornographic images of the boy and to meet up with him.
The Internet Child Exploitation Unit kicked off an investigation as a result.
They arrested Belden Conrad Sequeira, 21, on charges of luring a minor to commit sexual assault, luring a minor to make child pornography and making explicit material available to a child. He remains in custody until a bail hearing.
Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation can call Det. Cst. Jamie Pogson at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5544 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
