For the second time this season, Ontario Tech midfielder Christopher Campoli has been named U SPORTS men’s soccer player of the week. The third-year superstar scored both goals in the Ridgebacks’ shutout over the then-ranked No. 4 Carleton Ravens.

Campoli has been nothing short of spectacular for the Ridgebacks this season, and his latest brace brings his season total to 12, which puts the third-year forward five goals clear of the next closest competitors in Ontario.

This marks the first time a Ridgeback has been named U SPORTS player of the week multiple times in the same year.

On Saturday, the nationally ranked Ravens and Ridgebacks meet again, this time at Vaso’s Field in Oshawa. Kick-off is slated for 3:15 p.m.

StFX goalkeeper Christina Gentile has been named U SPORTS women’s soccer player of the week after earning player of the game honours following a 3-1 victory over previously unbeaten Cape Breton. The fourth-year arts student posted seven saves for the win and improved to a 4-2 record with a .758 save percentage and 1.33 goals against average.

In other Ridgeback news, the men’s hockey team open their 2022-23 OUA season tonight against the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Minto Sports Complex in Ottawa. With much of last year’s offence now playing professional, this game will be a big test for an Ontario Tech squad looking to establish an identity on the ice.
