Sir Monty’s Brewing of Courtice earned the most coveted honour at this weekend’s Scugog Beer & Cider Festival – the People’s Choice Award.
The eighth annual festival, a ‘backyard party on the shores of Lake Scugog,’ was a two-day event at Palmer Park on Port Perry’s waterfront that enjoyed a record number of visitors – enough that online sales were closed early.
A dozen breweries and cideries from local to cottage country brought their finest for thirsty patrons to sample, with food trucks and live music rounding out the festivities for the event, run by the Scugog Chamber of Commerce.
Leah Daniels headlined a busy lineup of musical entertainment.
“The Chamber is all about connection. It’s about community. It’s about showcasing small businesses and collaborating to produce opportunities to find our commonalities,” noted the Chamber in a press release. ‘This event really brings all of that together.”
People’s Choice winner Sir Monty’s thanked the patrons for their support, with more than 2,500 votes cast. “Thank you for having us – what an amazing event to be apart of.”
Other breweries, cideries and spirits companies at the festival included local favourites Old Flame and Two Blokes Cider; Town Brewery, Little Beasts and Brock Street from Whitby; Stonehooker of Mississauga and Dusk to Dawn, Black Fly Beverages, Glory Days Brewing, Boshkung Brewery and Hip Vodka.
