South Courtice Arena

Hundreds of residents joined Clarington councillors to celebrate the launch of all-new outdoor amenities at South Courtice Arena.

The Prestonvale Road arena complex, already home to NHL and Olympic-sized indoor ice pads, an outdoor soccer field and off-leash dog park, now boasts Clarington’s first accessible outdoor fitness area, as well as two lit tennis courts, a multi-skills court with both basketball key and ball hockey crease line paintings, and a reconstructed path to the dog park.

“There are new ways to move and play in the outdoor space at South Courtice Arena. These new outdoor amenities show Clarington’s commitment to providing diverse recreational opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities,” said Mayor Adrian Foster. “There’s something for everyone to get outside and enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle.”

The launch celebration gave residents an opportunity to explore the new amenities and participate in free family-friendly activities, including skating, tennis and fitness demonstrations, face painting, inflatables, prize wheel giveaways, crafts and more.

The upgrades were paid in part by the federal government’s Healthy Communities Initiative. Learn more about upcoming projects happening in Clarington at www.clarington.net/Projects.
