A demonstration of a web-based online voting system that will be in place for this October’s municipal election in Clarington went off without a hitch Wednesday evening with several dozen residents getting a first look at the system.
“It was extremely informative and we hope the participants found it educational,” said Clarington’s Communications Manager, Basia Radomski. “The system is safe, easy to use and convenient and it allows our voters to vote on their own timetable anywhere.”
– Clarington is set to demonstrate a voting system that will enable voters to vote “anywhere, anytime” using an online device, tablet or telephone.
The demonstration on the new system, which will allow voters to choose their candidate “anywhere, anytime” using an online device, tablet or telephone, was made by Simply Voting, a web-based online voting system provider.
Voters will be able to use the new system this fall any time between October 18 and election day on October 24.
The demonstration came fresh off a provincial election rife with technical problems – 27 polling stations in 19 ridings in Ontario held their polls open longer because of power failures and other issues.
The online voting system was used successfully in the 2019 Northwest Territories election.
