Yesterday’s enormous blaze at Clarington’s Durham Regional Police Property Bureau which snarled 401 traffic and kept firefighters busy for several hours is now the subject of a police and fire marshal investigation.
Police got the call of a fire at one of their very own buildings at 19 Courtice Ct around 6 p.m. July 18. By the time police arrived the building was fully engulfed in flame and thick black smoke flowed out of the building.

The building’s vehicle bay, which stores police cars as well as vehicles involved in serious collisions and police investigations, was completely destroyed. as were all the cars in theproperty bureau at the time of the fire. Police have not confirmed if any high profile trials have lost evidence in the fire
Firefighters search the grounds twice looking for victims, but found no one inside. No one was hurt in the fire. Police closed Hwy 401 in both directions as a precaution while firefighters combatted the blaze.
