Clarington man charged with impaired in Alnwick Haldimand Township

A man from Clarington is facing impaired driving charges after crashing his car in Alnwick Haldimand Township, north-east of Cobourg.

Police arrived at the scene of the single-car crash on County Road 9 around 7:30 p.m. November 28. On arrival, officers suspected the driver had been drinking.

After further investigation, Michael McSwan, 36, was charged with Impaired driving, failure to comply, and driving with liquor readily available.

McSwan has been released with conditions and will appear in a Cobourg court on January 12. Drivers found to be impaired automatically face a 30-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impound.
