A Clarington woman wanted for child abduction has been arrested in Saskatchewan.

Durham Police began a complex investigation in December into the disappearance of three children and their mother. Police say they were in contact with the mother but were unable to locate her or the children. There were no safety concerns for the children found but woman stopped cooperating with police, leading investigators to issue a Canada-wide warrant for her arrest.

On September 25 members of the RCMP detachment in Fort Qu’Appelle Saskatchewan located the mother and her three children. The woman was arrested without incident and transferred to Manitoba to be held in custody.

On Wednesday members of the DRPS Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and Offender Management Unit (OMU), travelled to Manitoba and took custody of the woman. She was re-arrested by DRPS investigators and transported back to Ontario.

Astrid Marianne Schiller, 54, is charged with three counts of abduction by parent and disobeying a court order.

She was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact A/Det. Duguay of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1642.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
