International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

Clarington is marking International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia by renewing its commitment against homophobia and discrimination.

“Far too many 2SLGBTQIA+ people still face discrimination, and we stand with them in their fight for equality and justice. We condemn any form of discrimination and hate based on sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster. “Our municipality will continue working to make Clarington more inclusive for everyone.”

Foster also pointed to the municipality’s 2024-27 Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti- Racism (IDEA) Strategy, which outlines how the municipality will help create and support a connected, dynamic and welcoming community and will foster a culture of “inclusion and respect for all people,” regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe to live authentically in their community. We are committed to working with our residents towards a better future for us all,” Foster added. “Let us stand together in solidarity and pride with our 2SLGBTQIA+ friends, family and neighbours.”
