There is a social media flame war going on between Oshawa Conservative MP Colin Carrie and the Oshawa New Democrats, with a former Liberal MP’s tweets about federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh at the centre of it all.

Dan McTeague, who served as the MP for the Pickering area from 1993 to 2011 before leaving the party in a dispute with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over his stand on abortions, re-tweeted a series of archived pictures of Singh protesting police brutality and holding signs saying F*** Police.

Except, it wasn’t Jagmeet, but his brother Gurratan Singh, though that didn’t stop Carrie from re-tweeting them as well, prompting a back and forth between Carrie and the Oshawa NDP which got a little nasty at time and ended with Carrie saying, “see you at the ballot box.”

McTeague, for part, has been involved in a Twitter war of his own today. Now running a company (Gas Price Wizard) that keeps Canadians informed on gas prices around the country, McTeague has veered quite some distance from his Liberal roots in the past eleven years.
