Concerts and movies in the park on a warm summer evening. What’s not to like?

Oshawa’s Events in the Park program kicks off next week with a performance by Inka’s Band at Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park at the foot of Simcoe Street, the first of a series of concerts on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer.

Movies in the park will also be a thing, with the community invited to enjoy a movie under the stars August 29 at Ed Broadbent park and on September 13 at Columbus Park in the village of Columbus, with the screenings beginning at dusk.

Inka’s Band will be first performer in Oshawa’s Events in the Park series

The City is promising a talented lineup of artists at the concert series, which is sponsored by TD Bank. Music lovers will be treated to a variety of genres of music, from South American, reggae, classic rock, opera and ’80s to R&B, country and even interactive theatre and dance.

The complete schedule is available online for all the details.

Events in the Park is part of Oshawa’s centennial celebrations and will start at 7 p.m., with attendees encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy performances all summer long.

The Bandshell in downtown Oshawa’s Memorial Park will also host performances by the Oshawa Civic Band on three Wednesday evenings during the summer – July 17, August 7 and August 28 – with each concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.
