‘Tis the season for road work and lane restrictions in Durham Region, with a pair of major arteries in south Oshawa affected for construction projects.

Simcoe Street South, from Kawartha Avenue to Harbour Road at the lake will see lane restrictions beginning November 8 to construct a concrete curb and sidewalk in support of new development, with the work expected to be completed by November 15.

Meanwhile, work on Bloor Street West from Thornton Road to Stevenson Road began October 17 and will wrap up just before Christmas on December 17, weather permitting.

The work is being done to relocate Enbridge Gas infrastructure for a pending Durham Region capital works project.

Local businesses and the Oshawa GO/Via Rail Station will be accessible throughout the construction.

A statement from Durham Region acknowledged the work “may be disruptive” and will be completed “as quickly and efficiently” as possible. “Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.”
