Convenience store in Oshawa robbed of vape products at gunpoint

An Oshawa man has been charged with armed robbery after a convenience store was robbed of vape products late Tuesday night.

Durham Police were called to the One Stop Trading convenience store on Park Road a few minutes after midnight Wednesday, with officers learning the suspect had attempted to leave the store with unpaid vape products. When confronted, police said, the suspect showed the employee a gun in his waistband and left the store.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

After an investigation by the Robbery Unit, James Daniel Elliot, 21, was taken into custody without incident.  A search of the suspect also revealed numerous drugs in his possession.

Elliot is charged with robbery using a firearm, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, ‘trespass by night,’ unlawful possession of identity data, methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking and five counts related to probation violations.
