Convenience store theft suspect wanted in Ajax

A suspect in a convenience store theft in Ajax is wanted.

A man arrived at the 961 Westney Road South Circle K store shortly before 6 a.m. on March 25. While the cashier was in the washroom, he went around behind the counter and started grabbing cigarettes from the covered shelves, Durham police allege.

The employee emerged from the washroom and confronted the man. However, he was able to flee with the smokes, police say. The employee was not hurt.

Investigators describe the suspect as a Black man between 40 and 60 years old. He stands about six-foot-two and weighs around 200 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket, a grey hoodie, and a ball cap with a green bill. He also carried a red and black handbag and sported a beard.
