A Courtice man’s retirement plans just got a lot sweeter after winning more than $200,000 in the August 6 LOTTO MAX draw.
Ross Smith, a father of two, now has $212,121 to put toward his retirement dreams after his second prize winnings.
Smith says he enjoys playing LOTTO MAX and sometimes uses OLG’s Quick Pick feature to make his selections. Other times he prefers to choose his own numbers. It was a LOTTO MAX Quick Pick ticket that brought Ross his first big win.
“I was at the gas station when I decided to check my ticket on the ticket checker. When I saw the prize amount, I couldn’t believe it and scanned the ticket a few more times to be sure,” Smith said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I walked out of the gas station filled with joy and cheer!”
“I first shared the news of my win with my wife and son. They were left in shock and disbelief, but of course, they were very happy for me.”
With his windfall he plans to pay some bills and help his kids with their education.
“Winning is a great feeling. I’m excited for our whole family and looking forward to my retirement.”
LOTTO MAX players in Ontario have won more than $8.3 billion since 2009, including 108 jackpot wins and 918 MAXMILLIONS prizes, right across the province. LOTTO MAX is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on King Street East in Oshawa.
